I was so surprised and disappointed that I didn't like this book, and finally stopped reading it after 35 chapters. M.C.'s books are normally page turners for me. Perhaps it was that children were so involved, I don't know, but it didn't draw me in at all.

A good read, with well-drawn witty characters, galloping along until the end was in sight and then just lost the plot completely. Big letdown.

I was surprised to be disappointed. I've always enjoyed his books. It seemed to be based on suppositions, unlikely confessions and jumping to conclusions. Unresolved ending, the story just stopped.

I bought the 2nd book in a charity shop a few years ago without realising it was the middle of 3. I now have all 3, have read the first and am reading the 2nd one again. They are about 900 pages each, and it's really helpful that there's a cast of characters at the front. I am loving them

I was disappointed in the first one but thought the second one would have 'found it's feet'. It felt bitty and contrived, and sometimes even the special effect seemed to go on too long - like it was showing off! To me, Eddie Redmayne's portrayed the character as an autistic child and was quite unconvincing. I later found out that this film is the 2nd of 5 - I shan't be going to see the next 3.
