Kamakshi Bhalla

I think this film is awesome in many respects - new theme/plot; good realistic portrayal of our culture, dharam, heritage and Bhagwaan Sri Krishna; good acting, script, screenplay. Worth watching in any language (with or without subtitles, as required). I saw the Hindi dubbed version, but I would have liked it equally well in Telugu (with subtitles). Memorable dialogues from the film: "Dharma rakshiti rakshitah" and "Humein Bhagwaan ko poojna hi nahi, samajhna bhi zaroori hain".

I find the Katha character and the message of the serial so odd, even for a city girl. In the start, Katha is shown to be one level headed person. But on the other, she falls so flat for a guy on the first meeting that she happily has a one night stand with him. Seems so contradictory for the woman's character. Colors portrays her character as some independent strong willed woman as if having and rearing kids as single parents is all it takes. Independence and strong will in women are all about equal rights for jobs, promotions, postings, recognition; putting their foot down and succeeding in the face of injustice, etc. Rearing babies born out of wedlock is not a role model for independent women.

Excellent movie with a sensitive but true portrayal of the atrocities tribals face. Another great release from Jyothika Suriya productions! They make really nice, and often hard hitting, films on socially relevant topics. Ponmagal Vandhal was heart-wrenching in places. But it was good. I also liked Raame Aandalum Raavane Aandalum. Since they all come with subtitles on Amazon Prime, I can understand and watch them.

Strongly recommended for all Indians in the present era. Excellent, thorough analysis of the riots supported by evidence and valid citations. The book is of course an abridged version of the formal report that the authors submitted to the government. But it makes alot of sense. The book doesn't have empty claims and opinions. The authors' statements and explanations are based on their own research in the riot-hit areas of Delhi, research of literature on the modus operandi of the rioters and organizations planning the riots. Documents have also been clearly cited to support their claims.

The movie had a slow, easy pace. But it seemed to match the storyline. I liked everything about it. The movie would be appreciated by certain audiences, not the audience that goes after "Total Dhamaal", "Simba", and "Golmaal" kind of movies. Every actor brought their character to life so well. Amitabh Bachan really surpasses expectations every time. He fits in a wide variety of roles, not just the "hero" we used to see in Laawaris, Yaarana, or other commercial hits in the past. Ayushmann is a pleasure to watch as always. The movie gets a full rating from me.

Mahabharat was great to watch in 1988 and even now in 2020 on Doordarshan. The new version of Mahabharat on Star Plus didn't even come close to the 1988 Mahabharat (BR Films). The Star Plus version seemed overdramatized and full of fantasy sets and costumes. The Sanskrit diction was also off. I am not sure what source they based their screenplay on. The 1988 version (BR Films) had realistic and great characters, sets, costumes, dialogues, lyrics and acting. All actors' Hindi diction and character portrayal was great! Nitish Bhardwaj and few others had to speak some Sanskrit also, which they did pretty well. What's more, the source of the show's screenplay was clearly cited in the credits - "Mahabharat" text from Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute. It's important to be accurate and cite the source in mythological and historical shows.
