Read the book too many times over the years. After chapter one,looked forward to chapter two. Disappointed. The characters were unsympathetic bordering boorish. Tv version with Tim Curry better.

Tom Hanks is too old to convincely play the role of a first time captain. I know we have all to get old and if it had been a unknown actor, they could have pulled it off. I know this is a negative review, but as a dedication to the men of the allied navies ,I found it wanting.
