GOAT is BOAT (Best of all Time) Venkat Prabhu has smashed his way through not since the days of Mangatha. The techniques involved in the movie are engrossing. The Holy alliance of the father son duo along with Prabhu Deva and Prashanth is a treat to watch. Normally Vijay wouldn't share screen time with co-heroes but this time he has pulled it off magnificently. His swagger and delivery is a must watch. 👌

When finally Kamal says 'I'll be back" I had to check my watch to say 'what - is that the end of movie?" That is a winning note for this movie as a predictable plot line suddenly gets upended and make you feel wanting more! 3 hrs had whizzed past by! While ComebackIndian was fun and frolic, GobackIndian makes the audience sit up and watch. The creativity of Shankar is palpable - be it the golden loo or the Mars simulated acrobatics, Shankar simply mesmerises with punch after punch of innovation. Those who haven't seen the 1996 cult movie or have not followed enough of movie trends may not really appreciate the humongous work that has gone in to making this movie. It has really set up the next thread in the Indian universe. The RK Laxman's Common man already in different avatars used by Ananda Vikatan and Dinamalar has been brought to life so vividly. The CGI is so good that you cannot differentiate which of the reels did Vivek or Nedumudi Venu actually do before they died in 2021? Manobala and Marimuthu will always be missed. The fight stunts and Kamal's hard work is there to be enjoyed. Siddharth acting particularly the one in the graveyard is quite realistic. Forget the naysayers - believe me - it's worth the penny!

It's one of those movies where you feel wanting to see more...It's almost like the The Lord of the Rings Trilogy where the narration is seamless about multiple storylines and feisty characters cascading to a glorious end. The visuals are stunning. Many of the sequences were a lesson in the ancient glorious history of Tamils. Didn't know that there was a massive Chudamani Buddhist Vihara in Nagapattinam until now. That Kodiyakarai more famous now for being a bird sanctuary was once a thriving port. While it's common knowledge about RajaRaja Cholan to be the greatest, it was interesting note that he had ceded his crown for 14 long years to his cousin Madhuranthakathevar alias Uthama Cholan! (Poruthar Poomiyazhvar!) Kalki was a genius in researching and writing scheming tales of vengeance, treachery and honour. Couldn't be more grateful to Mani Ratnam and his team for bringing this fiction to life. If more production houses and directors are listening, this is the time to dust off and recreate historical novels of yore. Sandilyan's Kadal Pura, may be or Kalki's own Sivakamiyin Sabatham? 'I am waiting'

The film's nearly 3 hour running time (2:55) could have been shortened by at least 10minutes, if less slow-motion frames had been there. All in all, a throbbing action movie

Can't believe that I've again seen Kasimedu boxing matches come alive on screen thanks to Pa Ranjith and his team that has done phenomenal research and has brought out this realistically sculpted sport drama movie. Arya's efforts at learning the sport and building up excellent physique is a standout feature. (he could still work on his crying scenes though). John Vijay has lived the Royapuram Anglo Indian family 'Daddy -bugger- Kevin's' life perfectly. Since the days of 'boxer Vadivelu' (such a wasted talent) and the burning of Central jail (unfortunately the warden was the collateral) near central station in the 90's, boxing matches have been consistently turned down by the police in North Chennai. Also, the boxers teaming up with the Vysarpadi gangs did themselves no favour. Maybe this is the right time for those to turn the corner. Bring back North Madras Glory! நீச்சலும், டென்னிசும் வேணாம் southக்கு! கபடி,கேரம், ஃபுட்பால், பாக்சிங் எப்பவுமே வடசென்னைக்குத்தான்!!! மெர்சல் படம்! Must watch!

Edutainment seems to be the order of the day...a social message intertwined with fun and frolic presented in an action packed mode with the villain matched head to head with the hero --- the bucket list stands ticked in every corner for a full blown box office hit!! That is what I saw at the Fountain Gate Village Cinemas in Melbourne on Pongal day last night. The kids were thoroughly entertained and my socially distanced next seat family 7 year old kids literally sat on the edge of their seats for most most of the movie and thoroughly enjoyed even though these Indian-Aussie kids don't speak much Tamil. I also saw about 6-7 Nigerian cine fans watch the entire 3 hour movie from 9pm - 12am - a testament to the broad range appeal of Vijay's movies. For the record, the cinema was near capacity for a night show. Worth the wait for team Master. Vijay Sethupathy is terrific. Vijay's sobbing scene brought many a tear to the audience. Wholesome entertainer and a big screen watch sans (touch wood) covid is the best option at these bleak times.

It's nice to see Tamil films embracing book adaptations. The dearth of solid stories are indeed pushing the boundaries for good. Surya, much like Kamal in his hey days, is not afraid of experimenting - be it the martial arts 7am arivu or the double trouble Maatran, or the 'notredame' hunchback Perazhagan, or the 24 'hr' scientist. Getting inspiration from "Simply Fy - A deccan odyssey' is onething - but staying faithful to its plot is another. Kudos on both ends. Love to see more actors walk this path!
