Interesting to learn how the important things in living are to see loved ones again and to fight for nourishment and water. I spoke to Callahan back in the 1980's and asked him what his first unlimited glass of ice water tasted like. He said it was amazing. I was most impressed by his resilience, when it would be so much easier to simply go to sleep and die.

The Kingston Trio has intellect, vocal quality, depth, humor, and vivacity. Despite their following and crediting The Weavers and Gateway Singers, their take on folk music was burnished until it glowed (as in gold). Frankly, they started the folk music craze of the late 50's and early 60's, but sadly, is much overlooked today. They were the real deal of the time, largely due to the arrangements of Dave Guard.

Absolutely cold gangsters, Teamsters President Hoffa, and Richard Nixon's Attorney General John Mitchell. These men had no morals, merely a code between themselves. Tying everything together from what we absolutely know to be true, you can even figure out the murders of those who were investigating the assassination of Jack Kennedy. While I haven't yet found her mentioned in this text, the botched murder of Dorothy Kilgallen is put into light. Read this book and get insight into a world of corruption which still violates every American today. Unbelievable.

Younger viewers might critique the show as being out of date and not up to modern standards. Taken as a snapshot of when it was created, Ernie was beyond the front lines of comedy. Nobody understood the medium of television like Ernie, and he used that knowledge to do wildly advanced stunts. His show was the one people quoted and laughed over around the water cooler at work. You had to be smart to get the jokes, even the sight gags, because nothing could be expected from Ernie Kovacs. Whatever you thought was coming took a hard left turn when it aired. Also, and this is important, no computers, no digital rearrangement. Everything was live and recorded on kinescope or early videotape. Ernie Kovacs was "the moonshot" while the rest of us were scrabbling around in the dirt. God rest his hilarious soul.
