The entire point of this film is to focus solely on the question everyone was left with after the series ended. “But what happens to Jesse?”
Vince gave fans what they wanted. The most burning question was answered. The movie is getting mixed reviews because elements such as these were NOT answered:
What happened to the remaining 69 million dollars after the shoot out?
Did Grey Matter ever give the 9 million to Walt’s family?
How did Walt’s family turn out?
Etc.
There is a clearly on purpose sort of vibe in the statement made by not addressing these points in the film. It leaves all of these things to speculation. This movie did its sole job, and it did so in that stand alone Breaking Bad sort of way. I was very pleased with El Camino and I disagree with the bad reviews. You can’t have it all, so relish in the fact that the mystery behind Jesse was answered thoroughly.
