Great show and the early Toronto setting is genuine. While I believe the show is written with a tongue firmly pressed against the cheek, it is still a fascinating show. Murdoch seems to be a combination of Sherlock Holmes and early inventors (which they deliver with some regularity). Yannick Bisson has several facial characteristics which immediately bring to mind the late James Garner. Detective William Murdoch finds himself in the middle of several (unrecorded) firsts, including automobiles, rockets, and forensic discoveries. I hope they never give him an automobile, because it's rather quaint that he arrives at many crime scenes on his trusty bicyle.
