Sea of Thieves has come a long way from its start, in my opinion it was still a decent game at its start with simple quests and people to meet and most of the time pvp, but it is a PIRATE PVP/ exploration game so YOU WILL die, YOU WILL lose, that's the point. if you cant accept defeat or betrayal then you may not have the best of times on the game but if you can tolerate that and basic things you find in all online games, you'll have a blast!
