To me, Kate Chopin’s story was all over the place, with one event after another with no sense of progression. The characters aren’t interesting at all, ranging from hateable to forgettable, and the former supporting characters are thrown in at random times, as if to remind us that they are in the story. Nothing in this story, aside from the selfish, neglectful, suicidal Edna has any real presence in the story, and that ending just felt like a horrendous reflection that made it kind of feel like a tragic yet pornographic R-rated film. If you want a story that goes all over the place, yet is still entertaining, even poorly written fanfics would be a better recommendation than this travesty of literature.
