I see all the white tears in these 1 star reviews like the issue with this movie is perceived “reverse racism” and it being too politically charged when it’s the script being so poorly written and without any nuance that caused this dumpster fire (the cast could only do so much but shout out to them and Nia Da Costa for trying). Get out was politically charged with a clear commentary on police brutality and BLM undertone but because of Jordan Peele’s genius script it was palatable for all audiences while not loosing in its overall message, which isn’t the case with this seeing as a white liberal wrote this script and it shows, for all the 1 star reviewers a quick google search on this movie screenwriting credits will tell you all you need to know

Black people don’t take drugs like that… them casually popping molly and adderall pills like they’re tic tacs was possibly the most unrealistic part of this movie

I didn’t have to pay to see this movie and despite that, I wanted to get up and leave that’s how bad it was

Bros is what happens when you give a rich problematic, bad acting (the way he breaks out in stand up comedy like monologues throughout the movie as if real people talk like that is strange), white gay, money and access to bring his version of what he thinks being gay is all about, he tries to make it woke but it comes accross performative at best, because all the other characters are stereotyped and seem to exist to validate him and his bizarre romance endeavours. What he did succeed to highlight however is how depressing and isolating dating as a problematic rich white gay can be when you don’t fit their mold (ie attractive, muscled meat head, acting straight but isn’t) because the most important criterion for them is looks (which makes the long term viability and authenticity of romance between Billy and his love interest unrealistic) .. Most don’t care about personality traits or forming long lasting relationships beyond Grindr hookups and sex orgies because they are deeply ashamed of being gay and wished they were straight and fully part of the patriarchy and harbour deep resentment as a result (which he highlights in one of his monologues). If Bros was presented as what it is : a satire on the dating norms of problematic white gays instead of making it pass as a “gay rom com” it would’ve been more interesting and successful.

Leave it to Tim burton to cast black peoples as pilgrims bullies….preferred it when he said that black people don’t fit in his cinematography aesthetic that was better than that, shame that Jenna Ortega’s impeccable acting is obscured by Tim’s bigotry

Spoiler alert - Movie starts with the white antagonist and his henchman (of Asian descent) administrating an unknown substance,to a black man, that makes anything hilarious even the saddest most disturbing things, with him laughing at the rwandan genocide (was ready to stop at this point but thought let’s see how far they’ll go). The main (white) protagonist is also a test subject in,what we found out later on, is a research center where criminals are being tested on, however it quickly becomes apparent that the main protagonist has a special relationship with the main antagonist (they’re both white men surrounded by women and minorities helps build ties) to the point where he ,with the antagonist,starts playing god and decides what is to be tested on other inmates, only coming to his senses when one of the inmates,a woman (because women like minorities are disposable) commits suicide after one of the experiments goes wrong. Going to spare more plot lines like the racially ambiguous toddler murdering love interest absolving the protagonist of the drink driving accident that killed his friend and girlfriend lending him in the facility in the first place, but in 2022 do we really need another movie with the main characters being cis white men and anything that isn’t is a plot line, disposable or a supporting stereotyped character ?
