I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. Good story, amazing story. I say this because I said the same for 'The Girl On the Train'. For all the folks who have read that book, this one would seem very similar. There is a girl who drinks, who fantasies from afar about a family, something happens one day and she reports it, but nobody listens to her because of she drinks a lot. So there are the similarities. But having said that, of course there are different quirks about this one. There ars two kinda of readers, one who like to just read about the story and not much about the scene-setting. Second, are the ones who want everything to be detailed to have clarity about everything. I belong to the second category and so does this book. So naturally, I like this thing about this novel. Another thing about this book, the plot progression is very slow at the start. Also even after the main event, the author has to heavily depend on the back story of the protagonist to show some movement in the story. The twists in the story don't come until after the main event has happened and then, too, there comes a big gap once the in the sub-plot (but the gap helps the overall plot somehow). The plot picks up the real speed when the climax starts and that is in the later second half. I would have given this book one less star but the ending is superb (but very short). Unlike 'The Girl on the Train', there aren't many possibilities as to who could have committed the murder. Finally, this book is a Goodread but only if you're interested reading the details (otherwise it seems prolonged) and the ending is, without fail, the best thing in this book.
