I haven’t finished reading it yet, about halfway through. My heart was pounding so fast, I had to put it down a couple of times. Fast paced book, easy to read and the characters will draw you in, if you like books that are contemporary about current day issues and if the reader is one that gets emotionally vested in the characters. It provides another viewpoint of Hispanic migrants.. totally opposite of the current American President. It’s a good story! Period. Don’t totally understand what all the backlash is about. I read some reviews about the cultural appropriation, inaccurate situations, use of the Spanish language... going on and on...really?! It’s FICTION!!!! BTW, don’t get confused by the last name. I’m not Hispanic but my spouse is. I had no idea Hispanics endured such inhumane treatment in Texas as well as Michigan until I listened to my in-laws share their experiences....everyone’s story is different. We have to acknowledge that and try to be better human beings....to each other. Read it for yourselves. Highly recommend!
