A masterpiece. The combination of music and pictures is so strong, its able to enter into very personal feelings and emotions that you can't describe in words. It's fake, but also at the same time very real. There is a moment when the opera singer leaves the stage into a forest and continue to sing, for me it was the art with all its emotional intensity leaving the symbolic place and stepping into reality. And this is what this movie is.

For me it was a masterpiece. After the movie with all the violence ends, the feelings of loneliness, corruption and death, they keep living inside me. It took me to to a very difficult place that is very scary to enter. And this feeling does not let go. Wow...

As a movie I didn't like it so much. It doesn't build up and is a little too spiritual and lacks some stronger energy.However, it does deliver a strong feeling of how it feels to be black in America, and at this part the film is doing a very good job.
