Massively disappointing. The film started out okay and was a good initial concept, but it just got more and more ridiculous and boring as it went on. Everything about it felt like a pale imitation of the original matrix films, filled with cheap cameos of actors and characters from the original trilogy. The most disappointing aspect of all was the lack of direction of the plot. It was full of build up towards huge, seemingly climatic fight scenes which ultimately didn’t lead to any sort of end goal besides rescuing Neo and Trinity. The phrase “all fart and no poo” comes to mind… Once they had been rescued, where did they go from there? What was the point of even rescuing them in the first place if the humans were seemingly content with the way things were? For me, the only slight redeeming factor was Neil Patrick Harris’s performance as the Analyst, which was a breath of fresh air and one of the few new characters of note introduced in the whole film.
