I cannot believe I waited for this game for several years and invested into my PC upgrade prior to it's release.
The game is just bad. With the amazing backdrop, intentions and ideas behind it- alas, it is just a dud.
From the marvel of Fallout 4- where you get to explore, survive, create and participate in meaningful quests- to this...
I can't possibly capture every atrocious detail, but here are some most irritating facts:
- all planets and their "outposts", "caves", "abandoned labs" etc. are exact copies of one another- right to the loot in crates and positions of interchangeable foes. Pathetic, really.
- once on a planet, your only option to explore it is "on foot". You run for miles, like a fool, wondering why your supposedly advanced and amazing spacesuit (with every possible upgrade added) cannot protect you from... frostbite caused by the freezing rain? Or "severe burns" caused by some steam? But soon you discover that these are very minor irritants, because your "exploration" only shows you that there is nothing there to explore.
- quests... just awful fetch quests. Go gather a bunch of worthless pieces of junk, suffer through hundreds of loading screens and, as a reward, get a number of credits that you have nothing to spend on. At one point you go through a major quest figuring out a conspiracy with a major billionaire at the heart- and when you confront him, he draws a gun and has to be shot. Meanwhile, his bodyguards and employees just walk around as if nothing happened.
NPCs and characters are all wooden and feeble-minded. Towns and cities are tediously repetitive, which is made more annoying by the fact that there is no mini-map and you're constantly lost.
Bethesda, this is bad. Who stole your imagination?
