Three stars is a bit generous. I appreciate what they were trying to do and the individual performances were enjoyable, but this movie tries too hard to be conceptual and the strain of it is distracting.

Spanglish is an underrated movie. Sandler is the weakest link but he is still likable and sympathetic in this endearing film. Considering the deep roster of talented actresses sharing the screen with him, there's no shame there. These are complex issues of identity, changing relationships, familial expectations and the complexity of love and family. Not an AMAZING film, but touching and definitely worth watching. 👍
