Field Of Carnations

I would give this about a 4 out of 10. This movie was so slow for no reason at all. I wanted to see what the hype was about and even now after watching it the movie has left no impression on me. I felt nothing when I watched the boyfriend die or any of the other characters since we as the audience didn't actually have time to develop any care or attachment to them. Some things were completely dropped like what happened to Connie? What do these people worship? It is still not entirely clear. The fact that none of the characters got even a little bit suspicious about Pelle or angry at him was so ridiculously annoying and mind blowing. The off screen deaths like Mark and Simon. Why not show that? The ending left me feeling nothing absolutely nothing. I always knew the girl would become a part of the cult but the fact she killed her boyfriend who had been nothing but supportive of her. Really? None of this makes any sense. None at all. The nudity scene or mating scene is so awkward to witness. What is the purpose of all the women standing around to watch? None of this was ever explained. I at first thought he would mate with evrry one of them but then I saw that some of them were so OLD. It was disgusting. None of the characters realizing that Pelle set them up. S m h

I personally love this movie and I like how the beginning of Christian entering the moulin rogue looks creepy and sexual at the same time. It's as if you can see the Jezebel in the eyes of all the prostitutes. The moulin rogue serves as a dark fantasy club where all of your most taboo desires can be acted out so long as you pay. I love the colors of the gowns and how over the top the makeup of the diamond dogs looks. While the romance between Christian & satine is rushed I think it's pretty clear that they fall in love because of his ability to woo her with poetry. He initially falls for her beauty. Their romance isn't very deep but it's enjoyable to me especially the "come what may" song. The acting and singing is top notch and I don't agree with everyone in the comments. I LOVED the cover songs especially"entertainers" in the beginning of the film. The choreography is top notch and i happen to be a fan of modern music being featured in a film or show that takes place in the past. Similar to the show westworld. Overall, great movie. I love to watch it over and over.
