The more driving plot points, the meat of what had implications to life being in the balance, and impacts to the world at large were good. The details which are often long winded, I assume to help lay a firm picture for the second movie, are sometimes a bit arduous or self-indulgent directed at a select crowd. I know each movie, most artist mentioned, liked the books journey overall but as many state it does get a bit hung up at times. I appreciate the time Cline put into it and look forward to a second Film based on it. Shards 3-5 could use some work before perfecting a script off of this, but overall I enjoyed the read and will be at the film opening night. 4.5/5 .5 removed for the few over-dictations surrounding pop culture details which inhibited flow, the somewhat unexpected ending was welcome. Keep Calm, and Shard On, the last act rebounds.
