The divisive nature of the movie really is part of it's charms. Challengers(2024) Is not afraid to target it's primary audience and only target it's primary audience. Challengers explores the homoerotic nature undertones of male sports and brings it to the forefront. I know very little about tennis, so I will not critique it, but as a spectator alone, the tennis playing of the actors was believable. The story beats were compelling and really rewards you for paying attention to small details. The exploration of sound and color really adds to the characterization and fleshes everyone out. It def. is more on the artsy, artistic liberties side, but I deeply enjoy it. All three of the actors were great in their roles and character choices. Zendaya was excellent while having the least emotional range to play around with due to her stoic character. Every smile or eye twitch she does has to serve a major purpose. You can tell Josh O'Connor had a lot of fun playing Patrick and he brings the audience into the mind space of the character with ease.
