AS a Firefighter/Medic I can say that, despite what Gary Renfro says in his review, this show is pretty darn realistic. The exception being the interior fire scenes. There is usually a lot more smoke and there aren't usually several small fires in the building. BUT IT HAS TO BE THAT WAY FOR PRODUCTION REASONS. And please pay no attention to his inference about volunteer Fire Depts. Over 83% OF ALL FIREFIGHTERS IN THE US ARE VOLUNTEERS. I am one myself. We have the same training and certifications. I earned my Chief Officer Certification in the 80's and was one of the very first licensed Medics in the Commonwealth of PA. We use the Command System at a scene. We have the latest in life saving equipment...Like the LUCAS 3 Device. I have been doing this since the 70's. I am 73 and answer every call when we are toned out. Unlike paid Firefighters, we never go "off duty" And we do it because we believe in giving back to our Community. Oh and when they can't handle what they have, who do they call for Mutual Aid? You guessed it. I am Asst Chief at a 2 Station Dept and hope to never quit. I realize this is somewhat off subject, but I couldn't let Mr Renfros comment about volunteers go.
