It's just one of those movies that infuriates viewers (probably unintentional) due to the character's bad decisions ... parodied later on by a movie like cabin in the woods. It's the era of horror characters with bad choices after getting the viewers attached to them(that's the horror part). The movie is only interesting for it's creatures ... and that's about it.
