My review has some similar game suggestions below for anyone looking.
Easily my favorite Castlevania game, was never huge into the others where a whip is your ONLY weapon and have been looking for more games to scratch the itch this one created with the large variety of weapons and the Soul system.
Honestly this review isn't going to be helpful for this game because there is so much I could write I'm actually drawing a blank for where to start which is why I brought up others below.
The ones I found that do scratch the itch are,
1. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, sequel so duh, has a small amount of side-quests, I can't remember if the soul system was much different (not a bad thing mind you), only issue is the 'touchscreen' aspect I wasn't a fan of but otherwise amazing.
2. Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, a little more in-depth with side-quests than DoS and a fair bit more, also the weapon and Soul system were combined in this one and changed to the 'Glyph' System so instead of equipping a weapon you can equip a Glyph that acts like a weapon or magic but that's only the start, you can also combine the Glyphs for an attack as an example if you equip 2 sword-Glyphs you can swing a HUGE sword or equip a sword Glyph with a fire element Glyph and you can swing a Flaming sword, there are so many dual and unique combos but if 2 Glyphs don't mix it'll just be a small burst attack so experiment with everything.
3. Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, I only played this one once so I don't remember as much as the others but what I did like was the 'Character Swap' that allowed you to switch anytime between the 2 protagonists or summon the other to fight beside you (One was more physical and weapons, the other more magic and tomes), and a nice little detail is they call each others names when swapping.
4. Castlevania: Symphony of the night, only played once, and it was some time ago but I do remember finishing it so I must have liked it, will probably replay sooner or later, also pretty sure this is the most well known game of the ones I've mentioned.
5. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the only non Castlevania game I've found that is similar enough to AoS although probably more similar to OoE, it's new enough I won't spoil any details but I do HIGHLY recommend it.
