You can tell this is an older man trying (and failing) to write thirty-year-old characters. Despite all the times he discusses what they eat and how much coffee they drink, there is no realism in this book. The dialogue is stilted and awkward, the main character is entitled and stalker-y, and they don't even seem to like each other before they are suddenly, undeniably "in love." Sparks is clearly obsessed with veterans and disabilities without really understanding either. Overall it is pretty terrible. I only gave it two stars because the ending did still make me smile, even if it was really predictable.
