3/5. A really good game that is unfortunately no longer worth the price it takes to get a key.
The factions all have the same units but to different strength levels, causing them to fall into particular roles. It plays a bit like a more complex version of rock paper scissors, with tanks being countered by anti tank, air being countered by anti air, artillery countering encampments, encampments beating tanks and infantry, infantry beating anti air and anti tank, etc.
Balance is a bit iffy in multiplayer games due to some factions like France being way too strong early and late game being very cheesy if you stack multiple airfields worth of heavy bombers to bomb enemy bases, as anti air cannot handle so many planes at once without wasting significantly more than it takes to make that many planes, especially as countries with weaker anti air like Russia.
By far my biggest issue with the game though is how slow it is. Even using blitz constantly, it's not uncommon to see your units getting where you want them 5 or so minutes after you queue them up. It ends up lending an almost laggy feel to the entire game.
Ultimately though, it's a great time that was worth the 8 dollars I put into it, but the 50 dollars it is now is a hard sell, and the all time high of the game was at 300 dollars, which is most certainly not worthwhile. Such is the way of limited copies I suppose, but it's a shame that licensing issues can result in a game being completely lost to the void if you hadn't already bought it previously.
