It's obvious that the filmmakers do not understand the games, the characters, the lore, or the universe. It's a blatant money grab with ham-handed fan service for fans they don't relate to. The first seven minutes were released as an early preview and it's obvious why: the opening scene is the best part of the movie before it explodes into a train wreck of empty characters, missed opportunities, and foreshadowing for the next movie that we all expected this one to be. An absolutely tragic waste of their greatest asset, Hiroyuki Sanada. Ironically, the 1995 movie is still worlds better.
