Probably one of the most depressing films I've ever encountered. Special effects are (extremely) well constructed and affective ; and the technical aspects and quality of the film making are unquestionably high.... however, the lack of depth in the story and Clooney's mumblingly simplistic dialog ( he is supposed to be a Ph.D. in astrophysics ) makes for a long and slow slog to an inevitably dispiriting conclusion. Even though we aren't attending theaters in this time of Covid, I imagined, at the end of this film, the long, slow, and depressing exit of scores of movies goers, with down cast eyes and gloom in their vital organs.
