SPOILERS The first 65% of the movie is enticing if a bit predictable. There are inverted crosses in virtually every frame of the first two-thirds, which makes the turn at the beginning of act 3 a bit more palatable, but still leaves the viewer disoriented and wondering how things happened. The foreshadowing throughout the movie is sometimes a bit too thick, including the use of the auburn-haired Sadie Sink for the ultimately bland character of Haley. Overall, most of the movie is outright predictable, even going so far as to realize the "sickness" is not caused by anything external in the first few shots of the movie. If you like a predictable and confusing at times, but otherwise enjoyable movie, then I think you may enjoy Eli.

So I went into watching this thinking that the reviews had to be horribly slanted, and that the show couldn't be that bad. However, the suspension of disbelief that the viewer is required to hold onto is astounding from the first episode. By the third, it is as if the writers are expecting you to throw all suspension out the window and just look at the show like it is a comedic farce on other space-based Sci-Fi shows, but then it tries to be all serious. Now don't get me wrong, by episode 5 I started enjoying it, but to get to that point the show, I am certain, would lose most of their intended audience. Truly a missed opportunity because of the horrible writing and heroic attempts by a few of the cast to make the series work that ultimately fall short.
