The Venture Bros. has, for almost twenty years, been one of the consistently best shows on television. The creators take their time to put their hearts, minds and souls into every moment of each episode. They take time, years even, to build and put together each season to make for a rich, immerse world of ARCH-RIVALY!!
Really though, Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick are geniuses. The world they're created that so many of us grew up with will always have a special place in my heart, even if the series isn't renewed. I think that what they did as a creative team in-part helped pave the way for something like the Marvel Expanded Cinematic Universe to exist. They proved a world of super-heros and super-villians could be hugely successful on-screen more than a decade before any of that was a twinkle in John Farveau's or Kevin Feige's eye.
I sincerely hope HBO Max picks them up to continue and/or finish the series. They deserve it after all these years of hard work and I think we as fans deserve it as well. Venture Bros. was one of my favorite shows growing up on Adult Swim and they did them dirty to toss them on the trash heap so easily. It shocks me that they did it with such haste after so many years of developing and delivering consistently fresh content.
It would be much easier to make a show like The Simpsons or Family Guy where the storytelling is episodic and little changes episode to episode. And maybe thats what's popular and sells. But it's not art. Its not compelling storytelling. It doesn't have rich character and world development like the Venture Bros.
Please HBO Max, you're our only hope.
I wish I could do more to help support the continuation of the series, I really do. I hope this message and the messages and voices of all the fans out there reach the right ears and so we can get this show back.
