Cher and Nicholas Cage develop a relationship surrounded by many relationships. Starting with an old woman at the airport whose sister stole a man from her and who has placed a curse on the airplane cher's fiance is aboard destined for Sicily connecting in Rome. Cher's first marriage ended when her husband died when he was hit by a bus. Cher thinks her first marriage was doomed by bad luck due to the circumstances surrounding her nuptials. She was married at the courthouse with strangers standing outside. She had no wedding cake and no reception. Now this second wedding must follow custom to avoid the bad luck that doomed her first.
