Absolute 10/10. Screw conventional storytelling. This three-part stop-motion anthology right here is a total chill ride. Already the best I've seen this year so far. The ominous aura and the threatening landscape might as well be seen as influences from famous platformers like Little Nightmares and classics like Kubrick's The Shining with the atmosphere suddenly swooping in like dead air then creeps back again maniacally. From the off-kilter behaviours of the characters, with the mix of very mysterious anthropomorphic ones on the 2nd act, all while the eponymous mean house being just a normal house and not an intentional literary device, makes up for a very alluring and heartwarming resolve on the final act.
The creators deserve more than just a pat on the back for this.
