I was searching for a monster movie and found this on Netflix. It's a slow-burn semi-reallistic creature feature that poses the question, "how far will you go to fight for your livelihood?" It's a dramatic story for sure, but I find the characters extremely unlikable and the ending underwhelming. Plus if you're searching for a great 'creature moment' like other movies of this type like when the alien emerged from the astronaut's chest in Alien--there is none.

The premise is great for a niche documentary, but the host comes off as rude at times and self-absorbed always. These are obscure, yet sensitive topics deserving of a thoughtful, fresh, and compassionate interpretation. I just don't think the writing of the show and the host delivered.

It took its time in some scenes that could be shorter and it could benefit from a dialogue revamp, but Army of the Dead is fun original zombie work that I can see becoming a successful franchise. :)

Go watch Den of Thieves instead.

Saw the Dark Tower on Netflix. I can say that it's well-made for a PG-13 movie. It's obviously designed for kids but it doesn't neglect its mythology, which ties up most of Stephen King's work especially "It." The story is tight, but maybe they'll get a better director next time. Still, this deserves a Part 2.

It's like Homeland, only better, because it's concise, compelling, and never strays from its narrative. If you're tired of seasons-long terrorism-themed TV shows that get off track mid-way, this one will never disappoint in that regard. Buckle in once you begin, you'll keep on guessing til the end. 5 stars out of 5.

excellent if you're someone who wants passing entertainment, but disappointing if you're a fan...fortunately i'm both, so I approve. The visual effects are nothing like you've seen in similar apocalyptic scenes. But there's one thing that makes the plot very cringe-worthy: the family at the very center of the story. They're the kind you want to all die at the end of the movie. I wish they continued more characters from the 2014. Spend half the movie hoping Elizabeth Olsen or Aaron Taylor Johnson to at least make an appearance. Because of that, they waste much of the first hour trying to make us care about people we just saw that day.

Leaves more questions than answers but stylish and gory enough for fans of modern, mind-boggling horror
