The details of this coming of age story are fantastic and moving. The friendship Kiki had with the elderly grandma and her helper that replaced the missing void of the grandma's own granddaughter not appreciating her... The inner turmoil faced by Kiki regarding how she appears to others, her self-consciousness and her struggles with the kinds of emotions provoked by Tombo's attraction and pursue of her... I am impressed by the complexity the film managed to capture about the struggles of growing up, developing relationships, and holding your own in a new place. The message the film sent out is that of how everybody can be themselves and still succeed; you will find your own way. It is a very endearing film with a very endearing character.
