I loved this novel where we learn that speaking truth to power, even in a looney bin, can be a dangerous thing. A red-headed rouge brings embarrassment along with laughter to a tightly ran ward of an insane asylum and he slowly learns that evil Nurse Ratchet will be vindictive when her authority is challenged. Shocks follow. Read it.

What a great read. It jumped out as an allegory of America’s current political situation. Ralph symbolizes the Dems. Jack is clearly GOP. The conch represents the constitution as Piggy is the destroyed electorate. I just am having trouble with who the naval rescuers could possibly be. I’m sure others disagree.
