Really enjoyed this film. Great escapism and proper romp through David Copperfield filled with brilliant characters and plot twists. A really refreshing retelling of Dickens' story. The cast were incredibly strong and characters were all independently funny and well drawn. It had a slightly ethereal quality to it at times and the detailing in the costume and sets was quite beautiful. It made me want to go back and read the book again.

Ashley Waters decision to leave music and become an actor was a difficult one. I remember reading an article where he described being seen as going a bit soft by making that kind of transition. It's a great series, really liked the way they portrayed the back story. Reminded me of Attack The Block in that way. The writing managed is clever and the acting and direction is spot on. Sadly though, in life, there are a lot more Sugars than Dushanes that stay at the top, but that would have made for a very brutal and unforgiving ending.
