As someone who is a major fan of Mr. Shimizu's Ju-On and Ju-On 2, and a fan of Mr. Shimizu's and Mr. Raimi's 2004 and 2006 The Grudge, this 2020 reboot did not meet expectations and by watching trailers I knew it wouldn't. To say this was a disappointment would be an understatement. Cheap jump scares that were more funny than scary and very poor storytelling. They tried to make a jigsaw puzzle out of it like the original Ju-On but it sadly didn't work. Poor understanding of how the curse actually works, the director really needed to take the time to really study the previous films because by watcing this reboot I can tell he didn't.
