I have always loved this show, even though my schedule, etc. does not always permit me to see it regularly. The honest appraisals and approaches to home building, repair, maintenance, etc. is very refreshing - getting from a to z is not glamorous, it can be grimy and disappointing with setbacks, it can be frustrating because of late deliveries, late staff, weather, and so many variables. Mr. Holmes doesn't veil the real and homeowners with a DIY-bend can learn the pitfalls that amateurs don't readily recognize and better discern what to leave to the professionals who can obtain materials for stable construction that is not always available at the big box stores. In an episode I am watching right now, I saw right away that Mr. Holmes had been ill, and the fact that he was vulnerable on air - this 'superman of everything home' is such a positive message. A friend of mine who was exceptionally talented all-around when it came to everything home had to face his own health issues late in the game (of course other dynamics came into play and he was not a well-known for his exceptional skill online or on TV) and other men who are confident in their physical ability and muscle could benefit by taking to heart that the more important house is the one who is you - if that house don't work, no way you can continue to try to build other homes. All the best to him and the work he stands by.
