Compared to the book, it was an awful adaptation. Left out the proper beginning, which was that Johannas relatives paid to have her back, and the surprise of their evil motivation to use her for labor. Also the part where she gets married to the boy who helped them on the road. Acting was the only saving grace. Little girl was wonderful and Tom Hanks was Tom Hanks.

Almost a caricature of past films by the same director . Honestly It put me to sleep.

Parasites begins as a strong comedy of social manners depicting a family of lazy, incompetent swindlers living in well-earned poverty. When they callously exploit a kind if rather naive young couple living a dream life as a result of hard work and initiative, the audience silently roots for them to be exposed for the con-men they are. Instead, the plot takes an inexplicable turn , turning villains into heroes and sinking into a morally unconscionable ending of gratuitous violence. Strong acting, many funny, clever moments, but ultimately revealing a sickening world view which makes one despair for the corrupt moral compass of today’s young creators.

Let me preface by saying I loved Bohemian Rhapsody. I found Rocketman a big mess: noisy instead of musical, whiny instead of dramatic and for all the sequins, boring and predictable. The betrayal by the boyfriend. The parents who didn’t understand him, the drugs, booze, suicide attempt...I think the difference between the two movies is that Elton John is alive and probably interfered with the professionals to get what he wanted. I hope this hot mess makes him happy. I walked away before the end.
