Surprised by the relatively positive media reviews. Really don't understand how anyone can say that Craig Fairbrass is playing a different role to what he normally does, it's just the same role he always plays, i.e. scary psycho hardman who does too many drugs - essentially a caricature. And, without giving away any spoilers, the last 20 minutes of the film leave the viewer completely in the dark as to what is going on and what the consequences are going to be, there's no finality, no climax, it's a very empty ending - at least if there was a proper ending that would have been some minor redemption. It's basically a different twist on the Rise of the Footsoldier film genre (genre being arguably too generous) filmed in black and while, which the simpletons who enjoy such films will probably think makes them highbrow.

Overrated. We're supposed to believe that when she drops the act and reveals she's stone cold sober every guy is so shocked all they can do is panic and demand that she leaves. In reality she'd likely get beaten up or worse long before the 'final showdown'. I enjoyed the film from the perspective of entertainment, but given the seriousness of the underlying subject I don't understand why the film needs to border on comedy instead of being a dark thriller. As for being nominated for 5 Oscars, I guess that reflects the dumbing down of Hollywood and society in general.
