Spoiler alert. It's like season one all over again, same old apocalypse plus a few development here and there that can pretty much be summed up in a paragraph. There is almost no character development whatsoever.
Everyone in the umbrella academy wields immense superpower but psychologically have the collective capabilities of and eight year old. It was hard to watch in season one and just as unbearable in season two. The last couple of episodes I pretty much just fast forward it to get the jist of it. Also, it's kind of silly that even though everyone in the umbrella academy have superpower, the antagonist still insist on sending ordinary human beings to take of the umbrella academy the way my mom sends a breakfast sandwich my way to "take care" of me. Honestly, it was silly that a bunch of normal people can go toe to toe with superhero in season one, it is still very silly notion in season two. And then the finale, they called up a bunch of random people, some with mask and some without mask for some reason to take care of the umbrella academy; hello writer, ever heard of the term line of fire? and all the agents charge at the same time which makes a grand finale scene but bumps up the silliness to 11.
I dunno. There are just many aspect of this series that felt very poorly thought out. And the only thing that's holding the series together is the few intriguing element here and there; but it's all playout at this point. I don't wanna spoil the surprise too much. But TL;DR: A lot of setting makes zero sense to me. But a lot of people seems to enjoy the show so far. So if you enjoy season one, you'd probably enjoy season 2. I'll probably continue on to season 3, albeit fast forwarding a lot just to get the jist of it because a lot of the show just doesn't make sense to me.
