Joker has by far exceeded my expectations than Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Of course there are controversy as to how disturbing the movie is. In my opinion, there are other movies that are FAR more disturbing in psychological terms than Joker itself. Critics nowadays are taking into account of how “disturbing” a fictional character is or how “controversial” the Joker is. Yes, we do have a history here in the U.S. about mass shootings and shooting in Aurora, Colorado which made fans of the Joker more aware or afraid of just watching the movie. As I watched this movie, it reminded me of the homeless people here in California were they probably go through the same issues as the Joker did. One fact that he pointed out is that “society overlooks people like him” and that “he was never happy for a minute in his life”. This part made me think about the homeless that may or may not have mental illness and yet are neglected, misunderstood because of the way they are perceived in the outside. As a society only see the outside of homeless and never wondered the inside of their lives, and how they ended up without food or shelter. If you want to watch the Joker, watch it, whether it is out of curiosity or just for the heck of it. Don’t listen to critics today who they thought The Goldfinch was a bad movie. Let’s be honest the Goldfinch was even better than Tarantino’s current film.
