I thought it chapter 1 really missed on capturing the true horror that the original book and tv series was so successful at encompassing... the horrors of looking deep into the depths of oneself as a child with no adult protection, along with a horrifyingly gruesome alien clown chasing you at every turn.. this version just took that premise and characters and put a new age spin on this Stephen king classic and really muted the essence of what the horror really was.. not the clown, but a fragmented group of Losers who were all alone in thier own worlds, with thier worse fears to confront with no one to protect them... as a child.. truly frightening... and the pennywise visual was a total letdown.
