A great and sometimes hard to watch action movie. Zoe is a modern day John McClane who is burdened with both everyday High School BS and the death of her Mom. As the movie progresses, so many of the anxiety-inducing problems that kids face are brought up or touched upon.
Several scenes presented the conflict in having to choose between compliance and taking command. Many scenes with the adults depicted ways to try to handle the situation.
With all the guns and chaos in the trailer, left-leaning folks might be inclined to write this off as right-winged propaganda. Give the movie a chance. While "a good person with a gun..." is definitely a thing here, the cast of characters is far more progressive than one would expect.
The main character is Zoe, is a young woman who succeeds based on her own ability and strengths. Her "guide" throughout the movie is also female. And, thinking about it now, most of the brave characters both inside the school and out were female. One of the most helpful secondary characters is a heavy-set girl who you don't expect to be as brave as she turned out to be. There's also Zoe's best friend, a Black male who is dealing with his own set of social problems. And, yes, there's a villain that definitely screams "incel" for those looking for that in the villains.
IMO, we need to teach all of our children to be like Zoe. That said, it was a great action movie and a good remind that if, Heaven forbid, you are even in that situation... Run. Hide. Fight.
