Not as good as the book. The movie is uninspiring and the characters are not believable, which is disappointing because it’s a Ron Howard movie. The movie should’ve tackled the issues behind the foundation of JD’s personal story, which are generational poverty and drug abuse in the Rust Belt. Amy Adams (the mom) basically screeched and screamed the whole movie, making it hard to watch. Plus, the movie doesn’t have a great ending...it just goes on. I almost turned it off twice but wanted to see it through because I really liked the book. Well, that’s two hours of my life that I’ll never get back! Big let down.
