No, no no no no no. A few good fights, sure, but other than that? Terrible dialogue, completely ridiculous set up, and even the special effects didn’t blow me away. Here’s a great example, and there’s a small spoiler here if you care: We discover that Kong knows some basic sign language. Okay, entirely plausible considering real-life Koko. But, one of main characters - upon discovering this new fact- states something to the effect that “I had been trying to teach him some basic words and the alphabet, but this is amazing!” The alphabet? You were teaching him the alphabet? That’s a horrible idea. Why would you teach him the alphabet? He has no concept of spelling, just basic vocabulary. He’s never going to spell words to you. He doesn’t know what the alphabet is. He knows concepts like “hungry, home, friends, food, tired…” not “I before e, except after C.” Stupid movie.
