I was one of the very few people who saw the film in it's original theatrical release in 1977, on opening night in an almost empty cinema. I was absolutely entranced, and I stayed for the second showing, which the manager didn't even charge me for, because almost nobody was paying to see that show either, so there were plenty of empty seats. It has been one of my favorite films ever since. I was 14 at the time, and while my peers were obsessing over the first Star Wars film (which I was underwhelmed by), I was fixated on this cult masterpiece.

A fascinating behind the scenes documentary about a cinematic masterpiece that should have been. It would make a great co-feature with "Hearts of Darkness" or "Jodorowsky's Dune".

One of my alltime favorite westerns, it's right up there with "Tombstone". One of Sam Raimi's greatest films, Sharon Stone's best role, Gene Hackman doing a twist on his "Unforgiven" bad guy, one of Russell Crowe's first US performances (just a few years after winning the Australian "Best Actor" award for "Romper Stomper"), and Leonardo DiCaprio in an intensely emotional early supporting role. Brilliant cinematography and editing,. This film is a ***** 5 star classic.

I watched "The Last of the Manson Girls" yesterday, expecting it to be goofy and unwatchable, like most Manson related films end up being. Instead, it was a surprisingly well-done (and fact-based) film about writer Paul Krassner's LSD trip with the 3 main Manson girls (Squeaky, Sandy, and Brenda). It humanizes the 3 girls in the same way that Charlie was humanized in the surprise twist at the end of the equally impressive "Manson Family Vacation", both of them with plenty of dark ironic humor. They would make a perfect double feature, and I'd give them both 4.5 out of 5 ****1/2

After almost five decades, I finally found a film that equals "A Clockwork Orange" at the very top of my Alltime Favorites list. I was sceptical when I heard the advanced word from some who were literally calling it "the greatest film and performance of all time". Little did I know just how much that I would end up agreeing. Joaquin's "Joker" is right up there with DeNiro's "LaMotta" and Day-Lewis' "Daniel Plainview". The film is a subversive masterpiece. A+ and 5 star
