Didn't like it much myself. Big Star trek fan myself and personally I thought the writing was pretty awful, the plot was silly and didn't make a lot of sense. It mostly felt like the writers weren't really that into Star trek. Ironically if they had just changed everyones name and called it something other than Star trek it would have made MORE sense. The Romulans are a huge star faring empire but could evacuated one solar system to one of there tons of other planets? Picard didn't really seem to act much like Picard in my opinion. Picard and data were never very good friend in the originals. I could go on.
It seems to me the writers had a vague story ready to go and just retro fitted Star trek into it for a pitch, they did not actually make a story to fit into Star trek.
I don't like it, but! I love the oldies and my expectations were set (perhaps wrongly) that it wouldn't be some action swashbuckling nonsense. If you enjoy discovery, and aren't married to the idea that this will be like TNG or any of the others, then it's not the worst thing to kill a couple of hours with some popcorn with. Is it good? No, it's really not special in any way. But if your locked down with covid then its an ok time killer for a bit. I'd rather just rewatch TNG or DS9 personally.
