Olivia Colman is a great actor and has turned in some ferociously impressive roles in a wide range of characters. Unfortunately this is not, in my opinion, one of them. Everything she does and says, and every nuance makes her portrayal as the queen less credible. Angry, emotional, overstated. Too much “centre of attention”. Hard to know who cast her over Clare Foy for this series (when Clare Foy was surely as close to the queen’s age at the time of the events being represented as Olivia). Makes the series unwatchable. We were very disappointed.
