What i took from this piece was not that all cops are evil and all black people are angels. What I took was this individual man's experience with an overzealous police officer who saw him as a threat at first glance based on his physical characteristics. I was saddened that their talk didn't change things, but I realized that one conversation cannot do that. There is a broader problem here that will require a coming together of the minds for far more than just black people and cops. This is an American issue and it needs to be treated as such. And just because it isn't necessarily your suffering right now, doesn't mean it won't be in the future if things continue as they are. An injustice to some is an injustice to all.
