In regards to visuals, the animation is genuinely phenomenal. The background art is also beautiful. You can tell there's an incredibly talented team of artists who put their hearts and souls into it. (Must've made a deal with the Devil...) The voice acting is also on-point, which goes together well with the wacky characters. I know overall the show is different from the game, but that doesn't make it unlikable. It was a joy to watch, made me smile and even laugh. I suppose one minor disappointment would be the music. There weren't really any bangers aside from the theme song, although music is subjective so maybe others will enjoy it. Also going to talk about a spoiler here, I didn't like that they ended on a cliffhanger. It's not the best to end a season and keep people waiting for a "To be continued...", however I still definitely want more seasons either way! So altogether, I'd watch it again. The writing may not be profound in regards to an in-depth story, but it's still a lot of fun and very well-done. I loved it and can't wait to see more!

So much talent and love was put into this show. I think it’s criminally underrated, so I want to give it a review without spoilers. I’ve never experienced anything like it. It’s extremely quirky and strange, but I think that adds an exceptionally charming element to it. All of the characters are uniquely designed with complicated individual personalities. The world they live in is one of a kind. You can tell that tons of imagination and care was poured into it. The story also switches tone from goofy to serious to the point it feels like emotional whiplash (in a creative and enjoyable way, from my personal experience). It’s made me laugh, cry, and feel genuine fear several times as I binged the series. The writing is very thoughtful and focuses on serious psychological situations at times. Season 2 gets even darker, and the finale blew my mind. The animation is so impressive. I know the animators learned from James Baxter, one of the greatest animators of all time, and it shows! The music is also fun and they manage to tell the story through song a lot of the time. I’ve never been big on musicals, but they really made it work. I’m especially fond of the villain’s song. My only minor critiques are about the occasional grotesque humor. Some people may like it, but it’s personally not my cup of tea. I still find other parts of the show to be pretty funny aside from that. I also wouldn’t recommend this for too young audiences, since the horror is genuinely that good. All together, it’s one of my top favorite shows. I can’t praise it enough. If you enjoy a high quality story told through outstanding animation and music, I couldn’t recommend it enough!

It’s kinda a bummer, because seeing LGBTQ+ properly represented in media is so important with making certain audiences feel seen and heard. So to force them into a story that doesn’t make men feel good, too, defeats the purpose of trying to be inclusive. (Men are a part of the community and still end up suffering. It’s kind of hypocritical.) I want to give them some credit for trying. At least they have trans people. The character design also isn’t the worst. Those are about the only good things I can say about this show. I’m someone who really loves a good story, animations can tell creative and compelling stories both for adults and kids, like Infinity Train or Bojack Horseman. But there isn’t anything special about this series. At the beginning, I couldn’t even tell the difference in personality of the two main characters. Most scenes are boring conversations that are pretty uninspired. They also seem to hate old people for some reason, since all of them are crabby or evil. The music is awful, there are plenty of talented people on YouTube who create music better than this show has. If it weren’t so notoriously bad, it’d be easily forgettable. There’s nothing special about it. It breaks my heart because LGBTQ+ people deserve better representation. This show did more harm than good. If you’re going to create something with the intention of being inclusive, try harder.
