I read the book, then immediately watched the film. DO NOT WATCH THIS. I wanted to enjoy it so much, but it literally butchers the book. Maybe if I hadn't read the book first I would have enjoyed it but the characters are so dry in the film and the story strays so far from the book you'd think it's a new story altogether. I'm all for adapting it to suit the audience, but the changes had no positive effect on the story whatsoever. Ruined it completely, and made it into a different style. Read the book instead definitely!!
